What Do Pedestals and Stringers Do in Raised Floor Systems?

July 07, 2026 Technical

In a raised access floor system, the panel is the visible surface, but pedestals and stringers largely define performance. These components provide height, leveling and stability.

What is a pedestal?

A pedestal is an adjustable metal support that carries the panel. Its height can be adjusted according to the project level, creating the required service void below the floor.

What is a stringer?

A stringer is a horizontal support profile connecting pedestals. It improves rigidity, especially in high floor voids, high-traffic zones and technical areas with equipment.

When are stringers recommended?

  • Projects requiring higher floor voids
  • Data centers and technical rooms
  • Areas with heavy equipment
  • Applications requiring vibration and level stability

Why is the support system important?

Panel quality alone is not enough. Pedestal spacing, connection type, floor level and expected loads should be evaluated together. An unsuitable support system may create noise, movement or leveling problems over time.

YAPITALYA selects pedestal and stringer systems according to project requirements to create a more stable and safe raised floor infrastructure.
